Economist Lindsey Piegza to break down COVID-19 impacts in SENA Reconnect keynote

March 15, 2021 — Stifel Financial Corp. Senior Economist Lindsey Piegza thinks USD 10 trillion (EUR 8.4 trillion) might just be enough stimulus to get the global economy through the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s the figure Piezga estimates the collective government response has been globally to the crisis. And while the total amount spent thus far is staggering, the United States and many other Western governments are still in recession and there are many problems money alone cannot solve, Piezga told SeafoodSource.

True North Seafood showcasing new deep-sea red crab product at SENA Reconnect

March 15, 2021 — True North Seafood is showcasing its new frozen wild-caught red crab product at Seafood Expo North America Reconnect – running from 15 to 19 March – in advance of a planned spring launch in the U.S.

The new product is 10.6 ounces of wild-caught deep-sea red crab sourced from Uruguay and frozen at sea. It contains 100 percent wild-caught crab meat with no additives, True North Seafood Vice President of Public Relations Joel Richardson told SeafoodSource.

Tony Byers: Diversity, equity, inclusion can lead seafood industry to greater success

March 11, 2021 — Businesses are seeing less turnover, growth in market share, and more robust earnings through the implementation of diversity and inclusion (D&I), according to Tony Byers, who has spent more than two decades immersed in the field, which he believes to be “the business imperative of our time.”

Author of the book “The Multiplier Effect of Inclusion: How Diversity and Inclusion Advances Innovation and Drives Growth,” and former director of global diversity and inclusion for Starbucks, Byers has extensive firsthand knowledge of D&I’s significant impact on the business world over the past 20-plus years. Byers said he intends to share many of his insights with the seafood industry during his Seafood Expo North America Reconnect keynote address on Wednesday, 17 March, from 10 to 11 a.m. EDT.

Seafood Expo North America rescheduled for 11 to 13 July, 2021

December 3, 2020 — The 2021 edition of Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America will take place Sunday, 11 July, to Tuesday, 13 July, organizer Diversified Communications announced on 3 December.

The trade show, which brings together seafood suppliers and buyers and which also features an educational conference, will take place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.

National Fisheries Institute Statement on Seafood Expo North America 2021

November 2, 2020 — The following was released by the National Fisheries Institute:

For years, the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) and its members have seen Diversified Communications’ dedication to educating, connecting, and growing the seafood industry on display at Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America and its many events around the globe. This year has shined a spotlight on another Diversified Communications commitment: the health and safety of its employees, vendors, and customers.

Earlier this year Diversified made the difficult decision to reschedule and then cancel the 2020 edition of Seafood Expo North America. The 2021 version was planned for March.

Once again illustrating its commitment to meet the seafood community’s needs while prioritizing the health and safety of all Seafood Expo North America/ Seafood Processing North America attendees, Diversified has announced the 2021 event will be held later in the year.

NFI and our member companies appreciate Diversified’s responsiveness, flexibility and innovation during these unprecedented times. We are all looking forward to gathering and supporting Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America in 2021 when it is safe to do so.

Seafood Expo North America, Seafood Expo Global postponed to later in 2021

November 2, 2020 — The 2021 editions of Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America and Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, have been postponed to later in the year.

Seafood Expo North America, which had been scheduled for 14 to 16 March, 2021, in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., will now take place in the summer of 2021. The event’s organizer, Diversified Communications, is working closely with the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center to find new dates for the event in mid-July. [Editor’s note: Diversified Communications also owns and operates SeafoodSource].

Seafood Expo North America September 2020 edition canceled

June 25, 2020 — Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, which was originally scheduled to take place in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., in March and was postponed to 22 to 24 September, 2020, has been canceled.

The event’s organizer, Diversified Communications, said the COVID-19 crisis has made holding the event this year untenable.

National Fisheries Institute Statement on Looking Forward to Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America in 2021

June 25, 2020 — The following was released by the National Fisheries Institute:

Diversified Communications has long been a leader in connecting, educating and strengthening the seafood community. Its trade shows and informational forums are an essential gathering place for businesses of all sizes.

Making the decision to reschedule and then cancel Seafood Expo North America 2020 was likely a tough one but illustrates Diversified’s commitment to listen to its customers and its ability to be nimble in a time of change. Diversified’s actions reflect the responsiveness and innovation found in seafood harvesters, processors, distributors, retailers and restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pivoting to meet the seafood community’s needs, Diversified continues to provide a robust digital information and marketing space for the industry. In 2021 it will host an exciting edition of Seafood Expo North America that will meet the needs of our changing market place.

We look forward to seeing NFI members exhibiting at Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America next year in what will be an enthusiastic return to Boston.

Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America New Dates Announced

April 6, 2020 — The following was released by Seafood Expo North America:

Today, Diversified Communications, organizer of the annual Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, announced the new dates for its 2020 event. The expo will take place at the Boston Exhibition and Convention Center this September 2020, with an exhibit hall open on September 23rd and 24th, and a conference program that will start on September 22nd.

In the last few months and weeks, the seafood industry and community, along with the rest of the world, have been experiencing some of the most tumultuous, emotionally and economically challenging times. “While navigating this unprecedented situation, we know there is a need for business continuity and are committed to providing a platform that will bring back together the industry suppliers and buyers who, due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, were prevented from meeting in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Liz Plizga, Group Vice President, Diversified Communications.

The September dates were carefully chosen in consideration of the recent escalating situation with COVID-19, the venue availability, as well as feedback from customers and high-volume retail and foodservice Key Buyers from North America.

“It is fair to say that this year’s event will not be like any other years,” added Plizga. “However, the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality event and services that are as similar as possible to what our customers have come to expect over the years.”

The September edition will feature a solutions-driven conference program led by industry experts covering today’s most relevant topics. The exhibit hall, which will be held in Halls B and C, will highlight special programs like the New and Featured Product Showcases where buyers can identify the latest seafood product, equipment and services, innovations and trends.

In the coming weeks, Diversified Communications and its official partners, will reach out to exhibitors, buyers and other seafood professionals to provide further details about the September event. New information will be included at seafoodexpo.com/north-america.

The 2021 event is scheduled during the same time frame as in past years: March 14-16, 2021.

NFI Statement on the Rescheduling of Seafood Expo North America

April 3, 2020 — The following was released by the National Fisheries Institute:

During a time of such upheaval and uncertainty for all it is exciting that the forward-looking planners at Diversified rescheduled Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America for September 22-24, 2020 in Boston.

There is an old adage that action cures anxiety.  In these anxious times a date-certain allows the global seafood community to begin planning for a new and exciting Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America 2020 where we will all reconnect and look toward the future of seafood sales.  NFI looks forward to working with Diversified to provide a unique opportunity for NFI members and the broader seafood community to plan collaboratively for the future. 
 
We look forward to seeing our members and friends exhibiting in Boston. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.
