October 16, 2026 — A new study from the University of Maine shows a big drop in baby lobsters, providing an early indicator of a decline in adult lobsters.
According to researchers, baby lobsters sampled from 2010-2022 declined by 80 percent.
This was followed by a 70% decline in young lobsters since 2015, then a 50% decline in adults big enough to catch.
