July 15, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 9,800 pounds of fish and 4,800 pounds of scallops Friday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 3,700 pounds ($13.20)
Small yellowtail: 2,000 pounds ($1.60)
Small greysole: 1,700 pounds ($2.48)
Striped bass: 1,600 pounds ($5.50)
Mixed yellowtail: 900 pounds ($1.14)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 37,600 pounds of fish Sunday.
