July 21, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 139,700 pounds of fish and 81,500 pounds of scallops Thursday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 67,500 pounds ($1.21)
Small haddock: 37,300 pounds (74 cents)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Delmarva: 23,100 pounds ($13.08)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Closed Area II: 18,000 pounds ($13.20)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Channel: 11,000 pounds ($12.88)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 8,300 pounds of fish Thursday.
