January 19, 2015 — The Menhaden Fisheries Coalition (MFC) applauded a 2014 assessment by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission showing that the stock of Atlantic menhaden is not over fished, the MFC said Thursday.
The new assessment, which also said overfishing is not occurring, replaces methods and results form a 2012 assessment with more accurate models and data sources, the MFC said.
