MONTAUK, N.Y. — December 19, 2013 — The Coast Guard has stepped in to help the crew of a commercial fishing boat after its engine compartment started flooding 26 miles from Montauk Point.
The Caitlin & Mairead (meh-RAYD') was being towed back to Montauk Thursday.
The Coast Guard says the 26-foot boat started taking on water around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the four people aboard initially were able to pump it out.
