October 27, 2011 – Today, Dr. Jane Lubchenco, under secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator, responded by letter to U.S. Senator John Kerry, setting out concrete ways that NOAA is working with Congress, Northeast fishermen, the New England Fishery Management Council, the states and stakeholders to improve the sector management system for the groundfish fishery and seek a healthy and diverse fishing fleet throughout New England.
