CARTERET COUNTY FISHERMEN'S ASSOCIATION will meet on Saturday, May 31st, at the Marshallberg Community Club, 6:00pm.
NCFA BOARD OF DIRECTORS will meet on Monday, June 2nd at 2:00pm at the Hampton Inn in Washington, NC. All commercial fishermen and supporters are welcome to attend.

Big news for me this week was that my laptop computer crashed. Not a big deal normally, but when on the road it's a problem in timely responses to e-mail.
I arrived in Raleigh on Tuesday and attended several committee meetings, including two for the Senate budget. There was nothing in the proposed Senate budget that sends out an alarm from our perspective, but the Senate will begin debate with the full Senate at 4:00pm this evening and will probably go on till after midnight. Their intention is to approve their version of the budget and send it to the House.
At last week's MFC meeting the Commission voted 5 to 2 with 2 abstentions to send a letter to the Governor and the General Assembly endorsing JEA or a Joint Enforcement Agreement with the National Marine Fisheries Service. For that to go into effect, the General Assembly must pass legislation as the MFC cannot do that without authorization.
After the Board meeting on Monday, I'll head back to Raleigh for another busy week.
