April 25, 2014 — The Copper River, Alaska fishing season — which kicks off the start of the Alaska salmon season — is tentatively scheduled to open on 15 May.
The Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) will announce the actual opening date on 5 May.
ADF&G is predicting the 2014 sockeye salmon catch will be around 1.8 million fish, while the king salmon catch will be about 33,000 fish.
