MOBILE, Ala.—Three people have pleaded guilty in Alabama to illegally selling imported fish as domestic catches for a premium price.
Federal prosecutors said Karen Blyth and David Phelps pleaded guilty Monday in a Mobile courtroom to 13 felonies. They were accused of buying and selling farm-raised Asian catfish and Lake Victoria perch as the more desirable grouper.
The pair was also charged with selling foreign, farm-raised shrimp as shrimp caught wild in the United States.
