SEAFOOD.COM NEWS [Video] — March 17, 2014 — In our first video report from the Boston show, it seems like Sunday was a busy day with a surge in overseas visitors coming to the show. Now called Seafood Expo North America and perhaps not long for Boston – the show is bigger and busier than ever this year. One of the signs that we think points to a strong US seafood market this year is the presence of so many international visitors. More than any other year I can remember you hear a whole variety of languages in the aisle. Many have come to sell products here. Diversified says the show is at a record size for floor space, and visitor totals should be announced in a few days.
What is drawing this increase in sales and traffic is a strong US seafood market which appears to have weathered such things as higher prices for shrimp and salmon. With a strong dollar, it is another incentive for overseas producers to flock to the U.S.
