October 6, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 37,600 pounds of fish Friday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Small Channel blackback: 4,600 pounds ($1.54)
Large Channel blackback: 4,400 pounds ($1.73)
Market cod: 3,400 pounds ($3.18)
Small dab: 3,200 pounds (97 cents)
