July 17, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 33,200 pounds of fish and 51,700 pounds of scallops Tuesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, U10 Closed Area II: 15,900 pounds ($15.78)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Closed Area II: 15,600 pounds ($13.45)
Scallops, U10 Mid Atlantic: 7,600 pounds ($15)
Jig haddock: 7,200 pounds ($2.38)
Scrod haddock: 5,400 pounds ($1.55)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 20,100 pounds of fish Tuesday.
