December 16, 2013 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 113,000 pounds of fish and 15,5000 pounds of scallops Wednesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 16,100 pounds ($1.57)
Market cod: 11,200 pounds ($1.86)
Sea scallops, 10 to 20 NCLA: 10,900 pounds ($13.60)
Small haddock: 8,200 pounds ($1.02)
Scrod cod: 5,500 pounds ($1.32)
