August 8, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 77,300 pounds of fish and 50,700 pounds of scallops Tuesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 58,300 pounds ($1.15)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 16,100 pounds ($11.25)
Small haddock: 10,100 pounds (75 cents)
Scallops, 20 to 30 Closed Area II: 8,300 pounds ($11.98)
Scallops, U10 Mid Atlantic: 7,600 pounds ($13.88)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 28,100 pounds of fish and 400 pounds of scallops Wednesday.
