August 18, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 84,800 pounds of fish and 10,300 pounds of scallops Thursday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 31,700 pounds ($1.27)
Medium pollock: 6,900 pounds ($2.10)
Skate wings: 6,800 pounds (87 cents)
Small Channel blackbacks: 6,100 pounds ($2.12)
Scallops, U12 Channel: 6,300 pounds ($14.53)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 24,300 pounds of fish Wednesday.
