August 15, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 85,200 pounds of fish and 8,600 pounds of scallops Wednesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 60,400 pounds ($1.32)
Haddock: 5,000 pounds ($2.79)
Scallops, 20 to 30 Closed Area II: 4,700 pounds ($11.55)
