August 14, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 88,800 pounds of fish and 40,000 pounds of scallops Tuesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 18,300 pounds ($11.55)
Medium pollock: 14,500 pounds ($1.40)
Scrod pollock: 10,900 pounds (93 cents)
Scrod haddock: 9,400 pounds ($1.38)
Striped bass: 8,000 pounds ($3.45)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 4,000 pounds of fish Tuesday.
