April 23, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 74,000 pounds of fish and 17,700 pounds of scallops Monday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Medium pollock: 20,700 pounds ($1.20)
Scrod cod: 18,500 pounds ($1.50)
Market cod: 15,400 pounds ($2.31)
Scrod haddock: 10,500 pounds ($2.23)
Small greysole: 9,900 pounds ($1.86)
