April 16, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 132,200 pounds of fish and 209,400 pounds of scallops Monday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Sea scallops 10 to 20 Channel: 60,700 pounds ($12.23)
Sea scallops 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 66,700 pounds ($11.08)
Sea scallops U12 Mid Atlantic: 35,800 pounds ($14.20)
Scrod haddock: 35,400 pounds ($1.53)
Small haddock: 29,700 pounds (68 cents)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 33,800 pounds of fish Monday.
