April 15, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 32,400 pounds of fish and 160,200 pounds of scallops Friday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Sea scallops 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 106,300 pounds ($11.60)
Sea scallops U12 Mid Atlantic: 42,700 pounds ($14.38)
Scrod haddock: 13,000 pounds ($1.13)
Sea scallops 10 to 20 Channel: 6,100 pounds ($13)
Market cod: 3,800 pounds ($2.73)
Small haddock: 3,400 pounds (55 cents)
