August 13, 2014 — The Department of Commerce has released the $6.3 million in direct financial assistance targeted for about 193 eligible Massachusetts permit holders — including about 53 in Gloucester — and those $32,500 checks could arrive as soon as within a week, U.S. Rep. John Tierney told the Gloucester Daily Times today.
The delivery of the $6.297 million in direct financial assistance is the first step in distributing Massachusetts’ $14.5 million share — including $8.2 million in state-specific grants — from the $75 million in federal fishery disaster funds appropriated by Congress in January.
