BOSTON, MA (March 11, 2009) – Two days days after a Massachusetts man was charged with harassing a humpback whale, a second man is facing the same charges in a different case, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
Christopher Jacques, 42, of Gloucester was charged with three counts of violations under the Marine Mammal Protection Act for a July 23, 2008 incident in which he allegedly struck a whale with a fishing vessel off of Cape Cod, prosecutors said today..
If convicted, Jacques faces up to one year in prison, followed by one year of supervised release and a $100,000 fine.
