JUNEAU, Alaska (Saving Seafood) October 17, 2013 — "Now that the shutdown has ended, one of our top priorities is opening the Alaska Bering Sea crab fishery for business. We are working as rapidly as we can to issue the necessary permits as quickly as possible. Our goal is to have the permits issued by the end of this week," according to a statement provided to Saving Seafood by NOAA Fisheries public affairs officer Julie Speegle.
