December 21, 2011 — NOAA is extending the public comment period deadline for river herring from January 3 to February 3, 2012. We are responding to requests to provide more time for the public to submit information to us on alewife and blueback herring. This information will be used to help inform our review, which will be conducted over the next several months, as to whether listing of these species are warranted under the Endangered Species Act.
