August 20, 2012 — In a letter to "All Parties Interested in Providing Sector Monitoring Services", NOAA Northeast Regional Administrator John Bullard has advised any company interested in providing monitoring services to sectors in FY 2013, that they will need to submit an application to be an approved provider no later than September 14, 2012.
However, Administrator Bullard also advised that companies should be aware that the New England Fishery Management Council (Council) is considering an option to eliminate the requirement for industry-funded dockside monitoring. And notes that NOAA previously exempted many sectors from portions of the dockside monitoring requirements. And they expect sectors to request exemptions again for FY 2013.
