Fishery managers are set to vote next week on protections for the gag grouper and on a sweeping plan in the Gulf of Mexico by setting new catch limits on about two dozen species ranging from various snappers and groupers to jacks, tilefish and royal red shrimp.
The blueprint to prevent overfishing would extend throughout the Gulf.
