VIRGINIA: Sign up now for enrollment in Watermen Heritage Training Classes

September 28, 2015 — The following was released by Rappahannock Community College’s (RCC) Office of Workforce & Community Development:

We still have spaces available for watermen who want to become part of the Virginia Watermen’s Heritage Tour program. The next class begins next Monday night, October 4th in Yorktown. The class runs Monday-Thursday evenings and concludes with an on-water, practical demonstration of tours Saturday morning. Registration is only $25 but we need applications in hand by 9/30.

Spaces in the October 19-24th (Monday-Thursday evening, Saturday morning on water) class on the Eastern Shore in Melfa are also still available. Links to both class announcements and application forms are available on the program website.

Watermen in the program are supplementing their incomes with these tours. Each captain develops his/her own schedule for tours, decides what type of tours to offer,  and set their own rates. We market captains under the program, arrange for interviews with reporters, and maintain the primary website and social media channels.

Please help us spread the word to watermen who may be interested. Thank you!
