New England Ocean Cluster incubating seafood innovation through collaboration

July 5, 2022 — The New England Ocean Cluster is continuing its mission of using a collaborative model to advance the blue economy, with an initiative to bring together representatives of the agriculture and aquaculture sectors at its headquarters in the U.S. state of Maine.

The cluster was founded seven years ago, but didn’t finish its collaborative working space in Portland, Maine, dubbed “The Hús,” until 2020 – just months before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, it has begun to start hosting events again, bringing together people from multiple industries as part of its mission to increase collaboration and foster new ideas.

Bristol Seafood adds office in New England Ocean Cluster

July 7, 2020 — Bristol Seafood has opened an office in the New England Ocean Cluster (NEOC) in Portland, Maine, U.S.A.

Additionally, Bristol Seafood has provided a founding sponsorship to create Inclusion in the Blue Economy, a new program to support underrepresented blue economy entrepreneurs by providing dedicated workspace and mentorship opportunities to women, people of color, and individuals from non-marine industries who are passionate about building responsible marine-related businesses.

New England Ocean Cluster creating collaborative model to advance blue economy

January 17, 2020 — For the past five years, the New England Ocean Cluster has been without the collaborative working space that the model thrives on, but that’s soon going to change.

The New England Ocean Cluster is based on the Iceland Ocean Cluster, and both locations share the same mission: To connect various entrepreneurs, businesses, artists, and other talented individuals in a collaborative space to enhance the region’s seafood industry. The cluster model is intended to bring together industries that, without it, may have had no reason to collaborate or connect.
