November 24, 2025 — Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have raided a New Jersey seafood market for a second time this year, but it’s not clear if anyone was taken into custody.
According to NJ.com, more than two dozen ICE agents entered Newark, New Jersey-based Ocean Seafood Depot on 19 November to execute a search warrant.
July 18, 2025 — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested two employees of San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A.-based Groomer’s Seafood during a raid of the business earlier this month, charging them with using fraudulent documentation.
ICE and Homeland Security Investigations (HIS) conducted a search of the seafood market 2 July, claiming that audits showed 29 employees had used fraudulent legal permanent resident (LPR) cards and social security numbers to gain employment at the business since 2016. Local news provider KSAT reported San Antonio City Attorney Andy Segovia as claiming that 12 people were arrested during the raid, although it wasn’t clear if they were affiliated with the business.
June 18, 2025 — U.S. aquaculture operations will not be exempt from the federal government’s increased worksite immigration raids, despite earlier reports that the administration of President Donald Trump would pause raids on large swaths of the food and hospitality industries.
In May, senior Trump officials instructed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to ramp up arrests, and the agency has responded by conducting more aggressive raids to find and detain undocumented people in the country.
June 3, 2025 — New Bedford, Massachusetts, U.S.A., is one of the busiest seafood-processing hubs in the nation, but the workforce there – largely comprising migrants from Central America – is living in constant fear of deportation, a longtime seafood processing worker who has since left the industry told SeafoodSource.
The former worker, who spoke to SeafoodSource on the condition of anonymity, said that ever since two undocumented Guatemalan men without criminal records, who were workers at New Bedford-based seafood-processing company Oceans Fleet, were taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on 12 May, workers in the community are wondering if they will be the next ones to be arrested.
