Obama blames Nixon for NOAA |

President Obama, in announcing a restructuring proposal for the federal government, took a shot at a predecessor, President Richard Nixon — blaming him for the inefficient placement of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration within the Commerce Department.
"If you're wondering what the genesis of this was apparently, this had something to do with President Nixon being unhappy with his Interior Secretary for criticizing the Vietnam War. So he decided not to put NOAA in what would have been a more sensible place," Obama said in remarks today. Part of his reorganization would move NOAA from Commerce to the Interior Department.
