Fishermen Protest To Get President's Attention
VINEYARD HAVEN - Fishermen from around New England converged on the area off the coast of Martha's Vineyard.

They weren't there for fish, but something more important to them right now. They wanted the President's attention.  "There's an opportunity to get the President to take notice that we are being driven out of business," said one fisherman.

Their message: fishing regulations have to be reformed and the science being used to establish those regulations has to change.

"The regulations in place today are unrealistic," said Vito Giacalone, a fisherman. "They lose money going to work under these regulations because they love it."

"Fish are back, we need for the same emphasis on the humans as has been placed on the fish," said Bonnie Brady of the L.I. Commercial Fishing Association. "We need help and we need it now."
