New Bedford Mayor Lang's letter to NEFMC on Herring and Haddock
New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang writes to NEFMC Chairman John Pappalardo about the herring by-catch cap. Lang writes, "there was no scientific basis for reducing the 2.0% [herring] cap proposed by the Science Center's groundfish biologist down to only 0.2%. This number was completely arbitrary, and has caused significant harm to the individuals who work in the herring industry."
