New Bedford mayor backs Kirk's re-election for fishing issues
The mayor of New Bedford, who has worked with Gloucester's mayor and other local officials on fisheries issues from the nation's capital to the State House, has endorsed Carolyn Kirk in her re-election bid for a third term.

Mayor Scott Lang of New Bedford endorsed Kirk for re-election Monday, hailing Kirk as a partner and leader in the struggle both cities have waged against fishing industry regulators.

His endorsement was submitted Monday as a letter to the Times; his full letter appears on today's Opinion page — Page 6.

"I wanted to give her my support," Lang said in a telephone interview. "She's been involved in all the battles."
