Injured man evacuated from fishing boat |

A US Coast Guard air crew from Cape Cod evacuated an injured man from a fishing vessel 70 miles east of Gloucester yesterday, after the man experienced swelling from a two-day-old head injury. The Coast Guard responded after the fishing vessel Sammy Jo sent a distress call at approximately 2 p.m. After consulting with the flight surgeon at the Air Station in Cape Cod, the unidentified 55-year-old male crewmember was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

May 22, 2012 - Listening to the New England Council's Groundfish Advisory Panel talk about how that industry is going to pay for monitoring costs is kind of like trying to figure out how to pay your bills when you've just lost your job. Though monitoring is important keeping costs down is critical. As Panel Member Gary Libby pointed out, "If we had 100 percent monitoring we probably wouldn't have an industry."
