Fisherman dies after falling into icy New Bedford waters |

NEW BEDFORD, Mass - January 28, 2011 - A fisherman died early this morning after slipping off an icy ramp and falling into the waters near Eastern Fisheries on Hassey Street, police said.
The body of the victim, a 47-year-old man, was found just before 7:30 a.m. today floating next to the Sunlight, a herring vessel out of Gloucester that unloads its catch at the South Terminal. Read the complete story from The South Coast Today.

May 22, 2012 - Listening to the New England Council's Groundfish Advisory Panel talk about how that industry is going to pay for monitoring costs is kind of like trying to figure out how to pay your bills when you've just lost your job. Though monitoring is important keeping costs down is critical. As Panel Member Gary Libby pointed out, "If we had 100 percent monitoring we probably wouldn't have an industry."
