There was big news Monday in New Bedford where officials announce that the Whaling City has been chosen as the new location for the Commercial Marine Expo.
The event was formerly called the Fish Expo Atlantic Trade Show and had been held in Providence. City officials said the Expo, planned for two days in June at State Pier, will bring thousands of visitors to New Bedford and could generate as much as a $1 million in economic activity. Officials said the location on the waterfront will allow participants to bring their boats right up to the expo, and they’ll be able to do demonstrations on the water. Eighty percent of the exhibition spaces are already filled. |
