Black sea bass - angling groups gear up to fight the feds.

10-3-09

I've decided to post a recent release from the Recreational Fishing Alliance, which is trying to organize recreational anglers for a fight with federal fisheries managers who have decided to close the recreational sea bass fishery for 180 days starting Monday.

The RFA press release is a fantastic attempt to show all involved that federal fisheries practices are, by and large, extremely flawed.

I'm hoping, as I have in the past, that maybe this will be the final straw in getting recreational anglers better organized as lobbyists who can make a change in their favor in the future. Too many people who have no understanding of the recreational fishery in this country are making decisions that effect the "business" of recreational fishing.

Here's the RFA's press release. It's long, but it's well worth reading.
