It may be useful in understanding NOAA decision-making, assessing potential economic impact on commercial fishing, and determining the environmental health of Northeast fisheries. NOAA, Statistics Division, National Marine Fisheries Service This website, operated by NMFS, compiles statistics on all commercial fishery landings in the US, making available relevant economic data on the amount of fish caught and it's dollar value. NOAA, Sector ACE Transfer Summary This website compiles statistical data on trades in Annual Catch Entitlement (ACE) shares between Northeast fishery sectors. It can help to assess the economic activity in the various Northeast fishing sectors. The website provides meteorological data from various NOAA buoys in the North Atlantic and around the world. New England Fisheries Management Council The NEFMC is the fisheries council responsible for managing fisheries in New England. The website provides information on the Council, New England fisheries, and regulatory and management decisions affecting commercial fishing. The American Seafood Defense Fund details the legal actions of the Fund in challenging NOAA regulatory decisions on behalf of fisherman hurt economically by their regulations. School of Marine Science and Technology, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth This is the homepage of UMass-Dartmouth's School of Marine Science and Technology, which does extensive research on New England fisheries and marine ecosystems, making their work invaluable in formulating fisheries policy. City of New Bedford, Harbor Development Commission The homepage of New Bedford's Harbor Development Commission provides information on the activities and organization of the Harbor Development Commission, which manages the New Bedford waterfront and is extensively involved in advocating for the economic interests of Northeast fishermen.
