Boston Seafood Festival, Sept. 28
The Boston Fisheries Foundation event, which aims to raise awareness about local and global issues facing the area fishing industry, features 20 vendors with fresh-from-the-water fare, a lobster bake, an oyster shucking competition, celebrity chef demos, and live music.
 

Bring the kids, too -- the New England Aquarium Touch Tank is just one of the hands-on activities they can enjoy. The Boston Seafood Gala takes place the night before the festival and features culinary specialties by New England chefs.

October 26, 2014 -- In April 2013, John Bullard, NOAA’s chief northeast regional administrator, first imposed Draconian cuts of up to 78 percent in fishermen’s allowable landings of cod and other groundfish species. And at the time, he called it the fishing industry’s and fishing communities’ “day of reckoning” over stock declines.
