NOAA Enforcement Acting Director Alan Risenhoover on Northeast personnel change
NOAA Office of Law Enforcement Acting Director Alan Risenhoover has issued the following statement on the reassignment of Northeast Region Special Agent In Charge Andy Cohen.
 


"Effective Monday, September 13, Special Agent in Charge Andy Cohen will be stepping down from his position in the Northeast. Andy and I agree a change in leadership in the Northeast is needed at this time. As of Monday, he will report directly to me and will be reassigned to a non-supervisory headquarters position. He will no longer be directly involved with any future enforcement actions in the Northeast."

HASTINGS: Time to improve the Endangered Species Act

May 18, 2012 - When the Endangered Species Act (ESA) was signed into law in 1973 by President Nixon, he spoke about the importance of preserving “the rich array of animal life with which our country has been blessed.” I believe that goal is as important today as it was back then. However, after nearly 40 years, it’s time to take a fresh, honest look at the law and consider whether there are ways it could be improved to do a better job of protecting and recovering species.
