NE officials reject reopening fishing grounds |

BREWSTER, MA - The New England Fishery Management Council voted Tuesday against a request that it consider reopening thousands of square miles of fishing grounds that were closed 16 years ago.
"These closures do provide additional protection for groundfish," argued Patricia Kurkul, the regional administrator for the National Marine Fisheries Service, which oversees the council. "I think this is premature." Read the complete story from The Cape Cod Times.
