Artificial reefs provide shelter for fish |

Contrary to what many people seem to think, there are not fish all over the ocean. There are certain things that fish require, including a food source and some type of protection or shelter from bigger fish seeking to make them a food source.
Most of our ocean floor is like a desert with long stretches of gentle sand hills with little in the way of vegetation growing. This type of environment does not provide fish with a food source or protection from predators. Read the complete story from The Asbury Park Press.

Monterey Bay's historic "wetfish" industry is under attack by extremist groups who claim overfishing is occurring. Touting studies with faulty calculations, activists are lobbying federal regulators to massively limit fishing, if not ban these fisheries outright. Apparently the facts don’t matter to groups with an anti-fishing agenda
